We were so excited about this game!!! The last time I saw the US national soccer team play was at the 1999 World Cup. The game was at Stanford, in the big stadium. I was playing a lot of soccer back then, so going to a World Cup match was hugely exciting.
Olaf and I got to the stadium a whole 90 minutes early, so we could eat and enjoy the whole experience. The game itself went by very quickly. I was tense the whole time! When the whistle was finally blown, I felt relieved.
In the last World Cup Japan beat the US to to win the tournament. It was a big shock. This game was not nearly as good, but I'm so glad the US won. Both teams seemed pretty tired, probably because both semifinal matches had been strenuous.

Already in their cheesy shirts "Greatness has been found." I hope they got paid to wear those. |
The podium took up half of the field! |

Excited after the game :) |
Olaf bought the biggest American flag that he could find. It was obnoxious. I refused to help him hold it, until we took this photo. |
