We were so excited about this game!!! The last time I saw the US national soccer team play was at the 1999 World Cup. The game was at Stanford, in the big stadium. I was playing a lot of soccer back then, so going to a World Cup match was hugely exciting.
Olaf and I got to the stadium a whole 90 minutes early, so we could eat and enjoy the whole experience. The game itself went by very quickly. I was tense the whole time! When the whistle was finally blown, I felt relieved.
In the last World Cup Japan beat the US to to win the tournament. It was a big shock. This game was not nearly as good, but I'm so glad the US won. Both teams seemed pretty tired, probably because both semifinal matches had been strenuous.

| Already in their cheesy shirts "Greatness has been found." I hope they got paid to wear those. |

| Olaf bought the biggest American flag that he could find. It was obnoxious. I refused to help him hold it, until we took this photo. |
